Vitex agnus castus is a Mediterranean endemic with plenty common names such as : Vitex, Chaste tree, Abraham's balm, Lilac chastetree, monk’s pepper , or chasteberry.
Vitex is perennial bushy, multi-branched, deciduous plant, reaching a height of 3 m.
It has palmates leaves 5-7 individual aromatic lanceolate leaflets.
Vitex agnus castus ‘s flowers are lilac, pink, white or blue fragrant, appear at the tips of stems
It blooms from June to September.
Vitex can tolerate both high and low (up to -10o C) temperatures.
It can easily be grown in loamy texture, well-drained soil and sunny or semi-shaded locations.
Cultivated both as ornamental , herb , and has many uses in various domains.
