Pepino comes from South America.

It is a perennial evergreen shrub that can reach a height of up to  2 m. in greenhouse conditions.

Solanum muricatum ‘s fruit is golden yellow with purple streaks. Inside is juicy orange -yellow.

It cannot withstand temperatures below -2 oC

Solanum muricatum  is easily propagated by seed and handling is similar to that of tomato or pepper.

Bear fruit in 4-6 months after transplanting.

Although perennial, often grown as an annual.

The fruits are edible and eaten raw or in fruit juice. They have great taste like melon and rich aroma.
