Origanum vulgare subsp. hirtum: Greek Oregano, wild oregano.

Mediterranean plant - Endemic Greece

Herbaceous plant, evergreen, perennial, woody – multi-branched.

Greek Oregano has white flowers, quite fragrant appearing on the tops of the summer shoots.

Can be grown in a wide variety of soils, but during the winter months it needs well-drained , light soils .

It grows well in full sun.

Excellent soil acidity 6-8.

Origanum vulgare subsp. hirtum does not require special watering and it can withstand in both low and high temperatures .

In Cretan Cuisine it is  used  fresh or dried.

The essential oil produced is used in perfumery and cosmetic industry, but also in compositions in medicine and veterinary
In gardening, Greek Oregano is an essential  plant for  herb  and rock gardens, as well as a pot plant.
