Salvia officinalis is commonly called Sage, Garden Sage, Cooking Sage, and it originates from Mediterranean Countries.

Small perennial shrub, evergreen, grows to a height up to 1 m with woody stems.

The leaves are broadly oblong, light green and have an Intense fragrance.

Sage' flowers are purple . It blooms from May to June.

Salvia officinalis prefers dry to moderate,but well-drained soils and full sun, although sage can tolerate semi-shade.

In wet soils sage will rot.

It is resistant to drought.
