Pancratium maritimum, also called sea daffodil.
It is bulbous perennial plant with a height up to 60 cm., Bulb size 5-7 m. and root system and up to 1.5 meters deep in the ground.
Pancratium maritimum can be found on sandy beaches and in locations next to the sea
Sea daffodil is located on the coastline of the Mediterranean region
The flowers are large funnel shaped, each inflorescence has 3-15 flowers, fragrant and crisp white with length up to 15 cm, have a pleasant, exotic and very subtle scent felt the windless summer nights
It produces numerous seeds, capped with a thin black crust
Pancratium maritimum survives in extremely arid and sandy areas
It grows in coastal sandy areas or slightly above the highest point of the tide
It cannot grow in the shade
The plant is fertilized by a large moth-butterfly, called Agrius convolvuli
Can be cross-pollinated only. (does not accept its own pollen)
